The course aims to describe and analyze main features of a new generation of optical communication systems based on coherent detection: main applications will be introduced, components and the algorithms needed in real implementations will be studied and an analysis of the non-linear fiber propagation will be presented together with system design techniques. |

• Advanced modulation formats and techniques • Spectral shaping for Nyquist-WDM: a new technology to increase fiber capacity • Algorithms for digital signal processing (DSP) in the receiver: frequency, phase and polarization recovery • Analysis of non-linear propagation in optical fiber • Applications in long-haul systems • Application in access systems |
