Subject fundamentals
The course is taught in English.

This is an eligible course for the Master Degree in Computer Engineering, focused on Embedded Systems, and it is eligible course for the Master Degree in Mechatronic Engineering.
The course aims at presenting the most relevant network technologies for mechatronic systems, with particular emphasis on the automotive. Starting from the network architecture of a vehicle, the most relevant protocols will be described at the vehicle level, as well as the vehicle to infrastructure and the vehicle to vehicle levels.
The course will also address the knowledge of tools typically used in the industry such as Vector CANalyzer.
Expected learning outcomes
- Knowledge of the connectivity needs for a modern vehicle.
- Knowledge of the in-vehicle protocols.
- Knowledge of the V2x protocols.
- Knowledge of tools for vehicle analysis.
Prerequisites / Assumed knowledge
- Knowledge of the architecture of computer-based systems.

Evolution of vehicle networks (0.5 credits)
Electronic architecture of a modern vehicle (1.0 credit)
In-vehicle protocols (1.5 credits)
