Objectives of the course
The goal of the course is to give a general overview on the basis of industrial and civil power electronics. The lessons are focused on the functional behaviour of active and passive devices in PE, some indication on the internal structure will be given indeed.
Principal structures of natural and forced commutation are analized in detail in order to give a basic viewpoint on reliability and design of PE structures.
Labs activities will guide students in a more realistic approach of PE systems.
Expected skills
Use and performances of the classical structures of PE. Basic concepts of electric energy static conversion. Capability in the evaluation of the advantages and problems that the PE adoption induces.

Laboratories and/or exercises
Exercises are based on the performance evaluation and pre-design activities of PE structures. Classroom and Labs Exercises are foreseen.

Revisions / Exam
Examination consist of multiple answer test and oral exam. Pass the test part is mandatory to acces the oral one.
