Presentazione
Oil and Gas Production and Transportation makes crude and gas a real product that can be sold. The course is aimed to give few vague ideas on the fundamental principles and apparatus for the very first essential treatments on oil such as: Gas Oil Separation Plant (GOSP) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) condensation. GOSP processes crude oil from the wellhead and separates gases and contaminants from the crude for reasons of safety, economy, and environmental protection. Particular attention will be devoted on the aspects concerning the transportation of oil and some ideas for gas. Static separators, pipes, valves and pumping stations will be condisered as unit operations. Metrological aspects concerning oil and gas will be lightly considered.
Risultati di apprendimento attesi
The course will provide some knowledge on mass and momentum transfer in and between phases in gas/solid/liquid separation and transportation. The course will provide some light knowledge of the apparatus used to perform the unit operations in the oil Production and Transportation. Some basic concept for sizing of control valves pipes and pumps will be provided.
Prerequisiti / Conoscenze pregresse
Basic concepts of chemistry and physics, as well basic thermodynamics are prerequisites to successfully follow the course. In particularly the knowledge about the principles of mass momentum and energy conservation and transport is required.

Fundamental of rheology (3) Fundamentals on process and plant design: flexibility, reliability and robustness (3)
Pipelines for uncompressible simple fluids (21) sizing of pipes valves and pumping stations.

Pipelines for compressible fluids and pipelines for Oil and gas (9) and comparison with simple fluid

Metrology for oil and gas, some ideas on control (6)

Ideas on principles of separation (9): thermodynamics of separation; theoretical stage, stage separation evaluation efficiency.
Separator devices (12): gas/solid/liquid/liquid separators and VOC condensation
Organizzazione dell'insegnamento
A pipeline will be designed for water and oil for sizing pipe, regulation valves and pumping stations. On the base of the design the fundamentals will be discussed.
A separator will be design for sizing separators and regulation system. On the base of the design the fundamentals will be discussed.

Before each lecture, related texts and exercises will be available on the course site of the web. Besides the subject explained in the lesson, also chapters of technical books and/or full paper useful for a best comprehension of the argument will be furnished as paper copy.
Criteri, regole e procedure per l'esame
The exam consists by an oral discussion of the reports on personal projects for pipelines and separators.
