Research Paper
The "Research paper" is a critical essay, carried out in text form, whose educational objective is to:
acquire in-depth knowledge on a topic related to one or more disciplinary sectors, among those provided in the master course;
acquire the capacity for discussion and critical writing.
The "Research paper", corresponding to 4 credits (1 credit is equivalent to 25 hours of student work), is carried out by the student under the supervision of a professor, hereafter called tutor. The theme of the research paper is agreed directly by the student with the tutor who, at the end of the work, expresses an evaluation in thirtieths. Such evalutation is based on the depth and maturity achieved, the originality of the theme, the capacity of synthesis and the degree of autonomy. The registration of the exam is under the responsibility of the Program Director of each Master of Science.

Thesis seminars
The research paper may be carried out in the context of the "Thesis Seminars", which are offered annually to all Master students by groups of teachers, gathered around disciplinary or interdisciplinary fields of investigation. The aim of the seminars is to provide students with methodological tools, useful for the choice of their thesis and for its writing.
The final result is a bibliographic/methodological paper, propaedeutic to the thesis, under the responsibility of one of the seminary teacher who takes on the role of tutor.
