Objectives of the course
The course has the target of providing students with the basis of the functional analysis of mechanical systems. In the first part of the course the tools for the cinematic and dynamic analysis of mechanical systems are provided, while in the second one some cases of special relevance are analysed.
The provided tools are used within the Bachelor Course whenever problems related with the design of mechanical systems are faced.
Expected skills
At the end of the course the student will be able to:

' Carry out a complete cinematic analysis of a flat mechanism composed by undeformable bodies
' Carry out a complete dynamic analysis of a flat mechanical system composed by undeformable bodies
' Study a mechanical system with gyroscopic effects
' Carry out the study of vibrating systems
Linear differential equations; basis of analytical geometry; physics.
Point kinematics; undeformable body kinematics; kinematics with relative motion.
Dynamic equations. Free body diagram.
Friction in mechanical systems
Work, energy and power. Efficiency. Law of conservation of energy.
