Subject fundamentals
The aim of the subject is to present the main themes relating to industrial plants, which engineers will have to face during their professional activities; to provide respective planning and management criteria, in particular connection with the car industry.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will have to be able to design plant services.
Prerequisites / Assumed knowledge
Elements of industrial plants and statistics are required.
Industrial Investment Evaluation.
Inventories management: the ABC classification. Elements of inventories management: EOQ - Economic order quantity, PUR, LEA with reduction in price amount.
Services - water (generality, practical dimensioning). Economic dimensioning of the piping.
Material handling systems transport inside traditional and innovative plants: overhead crane, roller way, belts conveyors, pneumatic transports (generality, criteria of design).
Plant services vapour and technical gases.

Maintenance - curves of reliability, political of management, management of the inventories for the maintenance.
Waste Treatment Plants.
Logistics of the outdoors transports (vehicles, load units, intermodality)
Delivery modes
Exercises concerning the topics of the subject will be made.
Texts, readings, handouts and other learning resources

Assessment and grading criteria
For attending students, the final grade consists of two parts that are added up (written: maximum 25/30; work group: maximum 7/30).
The mark on the work made by the group is added up if the mark on the written part is greater than or equal to 15/30.
If the mark on the written exam is less than 15/30, it is possible to integrate the written exam with an oral one (maximum score: 30/30).
For not-attending students, an oral exam can be made - with a higher number of questions - with which it is possible to increase the vote up to 5/30 points.
The time extension of the written exam is 2 hours.
Type of written exam: exercises; the use of teaching materials is allowed.
