Objectives of the course
The course has the aim to give to students of mechanical engineering a series of knowledge regarding modeling and numerical simulation of mechanics systems. The course is mainly based on the dynamic simulation of mechanical system thought Multibody codes. There will be shown the main modeling methodology of mechanical system components and various strategy of numerical simulation with the aim to investigate the system's behavior.
The course consists in lessons and laboratories.

The course has the aim to give to students of mechanical engineering a series of knowledge regarding modeling and numerical simulation of mechanics systems.
Prerequisites
The student must have frequented the courses of 'Meccanica Applicata' and 'Elementi Costruttivi delle Macchine.'
Syllabus
Lessons: preface regarding the use of numerical methods to simulate structures and mechanical systems. Modeling of components of simple mechanical systems: Joints, constraints, elastic elements, damping. Modeling of structural elements with non linear behavior (friction, backlash, hysteresis, real stiffness and damping elements). Basic concepts of multibody codes and integration with other types of numerical codes. Analysis of problems in numerical modeling. data uncertain, integration methods, sensitivity analysis on results. Application of Multibody codes to vehicle system dynamics.
Laboratories and/or exercises
Laboratory: There will be proposed examples and practical problems to be developed in laboratory. At first simple cases will be considered, up to more complex systems analysis.

Revisions / Exam
The examination consist in an oral discussion and it is required to produce and explain a report of the laboratory activities. It is required to book for examination at least 2 working days before the date of examinations.
