Objectives of the course
Show processes and problems of a city in a critical form, referring to the present period and to evolutionary tendencies in comparison with Ninetheenth and Twentieh historical roots.
Expected skills
Relationship between cultural and environmental territorial rehabilitation and the context they are included in.
This course is subdivided in lectures, seminars and practical exercises. Some topics are:

- importance, fields and reason of town planning

- istorical and cultural roots of contemporary town planning

- nineteenth century city in Europe

- reasons of nineteenth century set of rules

- urban transformations from the unification of Italy to nowadays

- the city: population and functions

- origins and changes of safeguard and planning in Italy

- safeguard of building heritage in town planning theories and policies

- Torino: twentieth century town planning as the study of Italian local planning.
