Objectives of the course
To present the main themes relating to industrial plants, which engineers will have to face during their professional activities; to provide respective planning and management criteria, in particular connection with the car industry.
Expected skills
To understand the main problems relating to industrial plants. To be able to plan the solution of productive layouts; to identify all the peculiarities of handling systems and warehouses. To analyse general plant engineering requirements.
Mechanical behaviour of materials, Technical physics elements, Applied mechanics.
- Planning criteria for industrial plants. Productive potential and location. Study of the market-product link.
- Machinery and department lay-out: study and evaluation methods. Safety and ergonomics
- Economic engineering: profitability evaluation for plant investments
- Material handling within industrial plants
- Planning criteria for industrial warehouses.
- General systems for water, compressed air and power distribution, as well as for fire prevention
- Ecological systems (water, sludge and solid waste treatment)
Laboratories and/or exercises
Project of a productive plant, applying all those topics treated during lectures.
