Professional profile

The Master of Science Degree (Laurea specialistica) concludes with an important programming activity and a written work (tesi)that tests the knowledge and the engineer's skills in autonomous working and his/her communication skills. The typical fields are innovation and development of production, the advanced planning, programming, managing of complex systems, both as a freelancer and in public or private bodies. A graduate can be employed in informatic industries that manufacture hardware and software; industries that handle automation and robotic; companies that work in the field of informative systems and computer networks as well as in services sector companies and in the public administration.

Job opportunities

This curriculum gives the skills to work in design, product engineering, implementation and maintenance of informative systems; in managing computer science and in information systems laboratories for industrial production. The graduate has skills and tools to plan and to carry out innovative processes, proper of applied research field. The knowledge of engineering skills enables the engineer to use tools and methodologies in order to treat informations and to plan solutions in the field of real systems. Thus the graduate can design and realize complex information systems in order to manage intelligence systems: he/she knows project and development tools and methodologies that give him/her skills to intagrate hardware, operative systems, databases, software, communucation services, computer networks and interfaces man-machine. The knowledge of these technological aspects enables the engineer to realize multimedial complex systems, also virtual, oriented to every application field. The graduate combines technical, scientific and relational skills with context culture, which enables him/her to work in international high profile positions.

Final exam

1. To be admitted to the final exam the student must have successfully finished all the previous exams. 2.The final exam for the Bachelor's degree (Laurea di I livesslo) consists of the public discussion of a dissertation or of a written thesis. The final exam for the Master of Science (Laurea specialistica) consists of the public discussion of a dissertation worked out by the student under the guidance of a professor. In both cases, the assesments of the student is the result of the whole academic curriculum and of the final exam. 3. Educational structures decide how the Examining Board, that will give the Master's Degree (Laurea specialistica) is made up. 4. The Examinig Board for the Bachelor's Degree (Laurea di I livello) is made up from 5 to 7 members, including the President; the Examinig Board for the Master of Science (Laurea specialistica) is made up from 7 to 11 members, including the President. In both cases the most of the members are professors or confirmed researchers. The Examinig Board can give up to 110 points; the honour can be given if the mark is 110 and if all the members agree. With the Master's Degree (Laurea specialistica) it is possible to obtain the Dignità di Stampa<(i> if the final mark is 110 with honour and all the members agree.
