Any degree from the III Faculty of Engineering, with the exception of Cinema and Media Engineering and Physics Engineering, provides an adequate curriculum for enrolling in the MSc degree in Computer and Communication Networks Engineering, a course offered entirely in English. Students from other degree programmes can submit an application, which is reviewed by a committee to determine if the prerequisites have been met or whether the candidate must attend additional courses.

The first-level degrees in Telecommunications Engineering and Information Technology Engineering are those that best provide the skills needed in the field of telematic networks (computer and communication networks) to continue studies in the MSc in Computer and Communication Networks Engineering.
To show the importance of computer networks in everyday life, it is enough to list a series of words that until a few years ago were only understood by a few insiders working in the field and which are now part of everyday language: internet, SMS, Skype, MP3, WWW, MMS, YouTube, Facebook, Peer to Peer, chat, twitter, Google, ADSL, internet gaming. These terms, all in English, indicate how the degree course in Computer and Communication Networks offers a training opportunity that is useful not only in Italy, but particularly in Europe, America and in the field of new technologies in emerging markets like Japan, China and India.

Graduates can find employment in professional services, at telephone operators and internet service providers, in businesses that provide telecommunications services, that produce devices and components for telecommunications, that design and manage telecommunications networks, and that develop software applications for the Internet. Other professional opportunities include research institutions where new generation systems are studied, international organisations dealing with the specifications, standards and implementation of distributed systems on a global scale, companies that design and produce devices and systems for various forms of telecommunications services (fixed and mobile telephony, data transmission, radio and television signal broadcasting, Internet networks, satellite systems), and companies or institutions from other productive sectors (e.g. banks, energy providers) whose nationwide presence demands internal telecommunications services.
Many graduates have found excellent career opportunities in prestigious universities or in companies such as Cisco, Sprint and Lucent (in the USA), Huawei, Telecom Italy, Vodafone, Wind Infostrada, Motorola (in Italy), Siemens (in Germany), Motorola, Thales, France Telecom (in France). This shows the solidity of the preparation offered by the degree and its attractiveness also in foreign markets. Some significant examples of successful careers are on the website: http//www.telematica.polito.it/Laurea_Telematica/success_stories.html.
One year after graduation, the employment rate was 100% (ISTAT definition, 2008 data taken from AlmaLaurea for MSc graduates at the Politecnico di Torino).

The degree programme is offered exclusively in English. Courses are attended by students from different countries who find studying in an international and multicultural environment very stimulating.
The rapid evolution in the sector requires highly skilled personnel with solid cultural backgrounds, sound interdisciplinary preparation, and specific professional skills, who can use the latest tools and contribute significantly to scientific and technological development. Therefore, the studies integrate theory with laboratory exercises on computers and network devices. Industry is also given close attention, with many of the course seminars held by personnel who work in industries and businesses, and with students given the opportunity to do internships and research for the degree thesis directly at the companies. Just as much attention is devoted to research, even at the thesis stage.
An educational path permitting the attainment of a double degree with the Universities of Hamburg and Aalborg is also provided, with students spending at least six months at one of the two foreign universities, and with the possibility of prepararing the thesis either there or at the Politecnico di Torino.
