The educational path is divided into interconnected thematic areas.
The courses will allow students to develop:
- solid scientific skills, including scientific foundations and the methodological and operational aspects of mathematics and basic sciences (physics and chemistry) as applied to the general area of Engineering. These courses are taught in the first year and the first half of the second year; the related learning areas as described in the following field A4b are "Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics" and "Basic Physics and Chemistry"
- basic engineering skills, with reference to contents typical of the Engineering of Information (electrotechnics, electronics, electromagnetic fields and measurements). These courses are held in the second and third year; the related learning areas as described in the following field A4b are "Electrical Engineering and "Electronics"
- specific expertise of advanced Physics describing the professional proflie of Engineering Physics, including quantum mechanics, statistical physics, the physics of complex systems, solid state physics, nuclear physics, and their applications to innovative materials and in advanced devices. The courses are mainly in the third year to make full synergic use of the contents and the methodological and operational tools provided by the formation in basic science and engineering; the related learning area as described in the following field A4b is "Advanced and Applied Physics".
In this way students get a balanced formation of basic sciences and methods, of information engineering and of advanced/applied physics which provide know-how and abilities expedient to the professional profiles outlined in the previous field A2a.
Students can select additional courses in order to complement and expand their preparation. Lectures about economics and human sciences, as well as lectures on emerging issues in information engineering or other areas of engineering are offered by the University.
The syllabus is completed by ECTS attached to learnoig of basic English language and to the final exam.
After completing the BSC degree course, students will be skilled in the use of advanced technological equipments and devices based on innovative physical phenomena (e.g. devices for micro-and nanotechnologies and for microelectronics, devices for telecommunications and for information and data recording).
During the first two years, the lectures for this degree can also be taken in English. Students can therefore benefit from the particular multi-ethnic environment created by the many foreign students from around the world who come to study at the Politecnico.
The Study program qualifies the following professional profile/s: | Roles and skills: |
Qualifications for further studies | Knowledge required to continue studies |
