All courses of the first year and one between “Motor vehicle mechanics” and “Vibration mechanics” are compulsory.
Up to two courses of the second year can be replaced with classes given in Italian or with classes selected in other MSc programmes, if compatible with the MSc in Mechanical Engineering: In this case, a superposition of timetables, both for the lectures and the exams, will likely happen.
“Additive manufacturing systems and materials” and “Produzione assistita dal calcolatore” are mutually exclusive.
“Additive manufacturing systems and materials” and “Produzione assistita dal calcolatore” exclude both “Materiali per la fabbricazione additiva” and “Tecniche di fabbricazione additiva”.
“Trazione elettrica” (MSc) and “Sistemi di propulsione elettrica per i trasporti” (BSc) are mutually exclusive.

Free ECTS Credits 1

It is possible to include in the personal syllabus 6 Free ECTS credits in the first year and 6 in the second year, or 12 credits in the first year, or 12 credits in the second year. Each Free ECTS course can guest a maximum of 80 students. In case such threshold is exceeded, places will be allocated according to a ranking list. Students who included a course in their plan of study but are excluded by the allocation, will be contacted to modify their plan of study. Such a restriction usually does not apply to courses indicated as 'mutuati' (aggregated to other existing courses). Students of the MSc in Mechanical Engineering will have a priority entry in English classes; students of the MSc in Ingegneria Meccanica will have a priority entry in Italian classes. Courses are activated upon the achievement of the minimum threshold of 15 students. In case the number of students enrolled in the MSc is higher than 100, the minimum threshold required to activate the class is 25; a case by case evaluation on specific courses will be conducted by the Vice Rector for Teaching in collaboration with the Coordinator of the Collegio dei Corsi di Studio. Such a restriction usually does not apply to courses indicated as 'mutuati' (aggregated to other existing courses). Students can replace 6 Free ECTS credits with an internship, lasting at least 150 hours. The internship can be included in the personal syllabus only after the authorization of the responsible in charge for internships and this change can be authorized at any time of the year and without any penalization. Before including the internship in the personal syllabus, the student will have to complete at least 48 CFU and to contact the host company.
