Description Theses are available in the framework of the cooperation between Stellantis and Politecnico di Torino on following topics:
1. Thermal modeling at cell and module/pack level.
- Multi-physics simulations in Comsol and Matlab/Simulink environments.
- Experimental characterization in laboratory for model validation
- Generation of inputs for geometry and material optimization of the battery structure based on simulation findings.
2. Mechanical design of a high voltage battery system based on Li-ion cells integrated with immersive thermal management.
- CAD design in Solidworks of a 50kWh system.
- Experimental characterization on a reduced scale system at low voltage of the thermal management solutions
3. Hardware in the loop simulations of a mixed chemistry battery system
- Deployment of a vehicle model on a real-time digital platform (Speedgoat, Space or equivalent)
- Testing of twin battery system (Na-ion + Li-ion) on a back-to-back motor configuration
- Design of control strategies for system optimization
4. Electrical and mechanical model of Li-ion and Na-ion cells
- Construction of a model to evaluate the mechanical deformation suffered by a cell at different temperatures and electrical loads.
- Experimental characterization in lab at cell level.
