Description Magnetic nanoparticles based on mixed oxides (such as zinc-ferrites or magnesium-ferrites) can be used for various biomedical applications, including targeted drug delivery, magnetic hyperthermia for the treatment of cancer, the improvement contrast in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or as antibacterial materials. The thesis will concern the synthesis and characterization of ferrite-based nanoparticles in terms of morphology, magnetic properties, thermal properties, biocompatibility. Most of the work will be carried out at the Polytechnic of Turin (DISAT, GLANCE group) and part of the characterizations may be carried out at CE.RI.COL Colorobbia Research Center (Sovigliana-Vinci) possibly with short optional periods of stay on site.
Required skills Basic knowledge of materials science and technology, biomaterials
Notes The thesis is expected to start at the beginning of October 2024
Deadline 26/07/2025
