Description DESCRIPTION:
In recent years, the constant sharing of personal data has started to raise several concerns about privacy in the public opinion. However, especially when it comes to web navigation, users usually do not pay much attention to the recipients of their data. This thesis work addresses the problem of personal data transfers outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) in the context of the web, with the use of a gamification-based approach. The goal is to produce a browser extension aimed at increasing users' awareness of their privacy.
THESIS OBJECTIVES:
Select a suitable gamification framework between the existing ones, through a detailed comparison.
Study and identify useful gamification mechanics from the selected framework to include in the development.
Realize a browser extension which could help users in detecting their personal data transfers to third-countries, starting from an existing desktop application.
Set up an experiment to assess the effectiveness of the extension.
