Description Understanding the combustion of zero-carbon fuels is critical as they provide a path to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
Though experimental data are invaluable, these are limited due to the challenges posed by extreme conditions within combustion chambers. For an elaborate understanding of a multiphase, multiphysics, and multi-scale phenomena, the combustion research tends therefore to rely more and more on high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
For this project, we will utilize a recently developed code for multiphase flows with interface tracking, and the inherent ability to simulate heat and mass fluxes at a moving interface (phase-change) in weakly compressible gases.
The work is a collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. Student can carry out the proposed work in Torino or in Trondheim.
