Description Many industries, such as automotive, aerospace and healthcare, rely on material and mechanical testing to ensure the quality and safety of their products. However, in these applications, the measurement of the force does not take into account the influences of time and frequency, and the traceability path is missing. For these reasons, since September 2019, a European project (EMPIR – ComTraForce), which involves different European and International National Metrology Institutes (INRiM included) and Universities, has been carried on with the purpose of developing methods for static, continuous and dynamic force calibration, traceable to the SI units. Using the outputs of the project, in terms of continuous and dynamic calibration methods drafted in documents DKD-R 9-3 and DKD-R 3-10, besides the well-known static calibration according to ISO 376, the internship will consist of an experimental activity aimed at comparing these calibration methods using a standard strain-gauged force transducer. The results, together with the associated uncertainties, will be compared and discussed and will serve to support the new revision of the ISO 7500 standard relating to the calibration of uni-axial testing machines.
