Description Urban and territorial policies and, more generally speaking, territorial governance largely depend on the operation of spatial planning systems, which are defined within specific institutional contexts. Each country in the world has its own planning system, based on respective social models, administrative traditions and technical cultures. This topic is therefore open to a wide range of possible international comparisons, which should be finalised to uderstand and evaluate the effectiveness of policies and tools for territorial governance and to individuate innovation opportunities in this field.
