Description Today, sustainable energy practices are crucial in addressing environmental challenges and reducing our reliance on non-renewable energy sources. This thesis project is dedicated to the development of an innovative tool that will empower stakeholders, designers, and researchers to simulate user-defined photovoltaic energy communities. The ultimate goal is to support the energy transition by promoting energy communities that maximize energy sharing and generate benefits for participants. Specifically, our project focuses on creating a dynamic simulation tool for the preliminary estimation of the energetic and economic aspects of community energy creation. The economic analysis on the current incentive schemes provided by the Italian government, aligning with Italy’s commitment to energy transition policies.
The thesis can be carried out by 2 people willing to collaborate, given the interdisciplinary nature of the content and methods required. No special previous knowledge in the field of energy is required.

The primary objectives of this thesis project are as follows:
1. Analysis of the regulatory context: Preliminary analysis of the European and Italian regulatory context regarding the definition of incentives for renewable energy communities, with the aim of identifying the crucial aspects that must be modelled for a correct analysis.
2. Simulation Tool Development: development a reliable and user-friendly simulation tool that allows users to define their photovoltaic energy communities. This tool will cater to various electrical user archetypes and provide a dynamic simulation environment.
3. Energetic Behavior Analysis: exploration of the energetic behavior of the defined energy communities. Simulation of energy generation, consumption, and sharing dynamics, considering factors such as weather conditions and energy demand profiles.
4. Economic Assessment: The thesis project will adopt the current economic incentives scheme offered by the Italian government for renewable energy communities. Users will be able to evaluate the economic viability of their photovoltaic energy communities, acknowledging the specific regulatory framework in Italy.
