Thesis type SIMULATION AND DESIGN
Description Quadcopter Unmanned Aerial Systems (UASs) have become so widespread and advanced to be adopted in a multitude of outdoor applications beyond the only entertainment, such as parcel delivery, mapping, surveillance, etc. However, due to the inherit novelty of UASs applications themselves, new research directions are emerging in several fields: UAS-related noise modeling and containment methods are an example. The noise modeling problem regards (at least) 4 main aspects: the noise source, the flight path followed by the source, the atmospheric propagation, and the receiver (people).
The goal of this thesis is to study the state-of-the-art literature about UASs’ noise modeling and propose an application-oriented noise propagation model (e.g., parcel delivery). Consequently, a noise containment method should be proposed for a mission/trajectory planner for the UAS application of reference.
