Thesis type NUMERICAL
Description This master's thesis proposes the structural optimization of offshore wind turbine towers. The objective is to enhance tower performance and cost-effectiveness through a comprehensive analysis and optimization process. The research will involve a literature review, numerical modeling, optimization framework implementation, and economic evaluation. The expected outcomes include an optimized tower design for a selected wind turbine (final size will be discussed among 5-10-15-22 MW), verification of the code, and guidelines for future designs.
the tower design is optimized using Euler Bernoulli formulation (1D beam model) and a model using Ansys (3D finite element model) shall be implemented as verification of the deformations and stresses, and evaluation of buckling phenomena (compression instabilities).
