Description Artificial Intelligence (AI) is shaping the world we live in, providing new insights and offering unthinkable opportunities in every scope of engineering. This is true for the aviation industry as well as the most important industries in the field are looking at AI (and its explainable versions) with an interested eye. While AI offers immense potential for innovation, there are still technical challenges and concerns surrounding safety that need to be addressed. This thesis should approach and provide a bird eye perspective on where AI is currently used in the aerospace domain as well as the possible challenges and opportunities it may bring to the aerospace world.
