Descrizione The interest in the topic of sustainable mobility has been continuously growing for many years as a response to the need of improving air quality in cities and to take action against global warming. Electric cars, which were a complete novelty up to few years ago, are today common in our streets. On the contrary, hydrogen-powered vehicles are still struggling to get to the market due to many factors, including their high cost and limited refueling infrastructure. Therefore, investigating innovative solutions to improve FCEV efficiency is of paramount importance in the context of the transition to sustainable mobility solutions.
The final goal of this thesis activity is to design and analyze the performance of the powertrain of a FCEV based on an innovative eCVT concept. After an initial literature review about FCEV powertrain layouts and components, a preliminary dimensioning of the system will be performed. The powertrain will then be modelled in MATLAB/Simulink environment and simulations will be performed to refine the dimensioning of the components. Finally, an analysis will be conducted to investigate the powertrain efficiency as well as its dynamic performance.
