Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL THESIS
Description Using water-based electrolytes for DSSCs eliminates the risks associated with organic electrolytes, for example toxicity and flammability, and also ensures eco-friendliness. The aqueous electrolyte can also be trapped in a gel matrix, which yields long-term stability of the device. In this thesis work, the student will be able to assemble, characterize and optimize DSSCs using hydrogel electrolytes.
The activity is particularly interesting because it allows the candidate to see the entire supply chain on the topic, from the preparation of the components to the assembly and testing of the devices at a laboratory scale.
Required skills Chemistry and/or materials engineering, conversion technologies of solar energy
Notes The Electrochemistry Group is a team of internationally renowned researchers in the energy field (see the group's recent successes at this link: https://www.facebook.com/ElectrochemistryGroupPoliTO).
The candidate will work on a work line currently active in the research team, gaining the experience of working in the field of applied research in an academic laboratory.
