Description The assessment of muscle synergy number as a meaningful feature for the analysis of motor control strategies in pathological populations has gained increasing interest in recent years. However, despite this growing interest, there is still a lack of standardized criteria or shared guidelines for computing the optimal number of muscle synergies. This lack of standardization can make it challenging to compare results across different studies, hinder the development of a standardized diagnostic tool, and limit the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions aimed at improving motor function.
To address this issue, this thesis aims to find a reliable and systematic solution to the muscle synergy number issue. The study proposes moving from single-criterion approaches to a multi-criteria approach based on ELECTRE III. This approach will allow considering multiple criteria in determining the optimal number of muscle synergies, moving beyond the limitations of single-criterion approaches.
