Description Context awareness is a property of mobile devices that is complementary to location awareness. Whereas location may determine how certain processes in a device operate, context may be applied more flexibly with mobile users, especially with users of smart phones. The latter devices, typically equipped with heterogeneous sensing and communication devices, offer very good opportunity of using these devices to determine the context, which in turn allows to optimize the use of resources in a smartphone, and in particular power. This thesis aims at implementing context-detection algorithms and developing solutions to improve the energy consumption based on that detection
