Descrizione When deploying photovoltaic (PV) installations on the field, several design issues arise, the most important one being the determination of the optimal location to maximize the return on the investment.
This issue is also relevant in the case of residential or industrial installations, where the ``location'' is in most cases pre-defined (e.g., a roof); in these scenarios, the impact of transient shadings or of the quality of the chosen PV modules on the total cost analysis are more impactful for the individual user.
This thesis aims at developing a a framework for the evaluation of residential or industrial PV installations that, by defining standardized formats for all the required inputs (environmental data, roof information, PV modules data, electrical quantities, etc) and the relative interfaces among the various steps of the methodology, together with a set of tools that use and combine these information.
Some of the key blocks are already implemented with some built-in features; the objective of the work is to integrate all of them, defining the interfaces, augmenting some of them with additional
features, and possibly implementing a web interface to make it easily accessible.
Conoscenze richieste object-oriented programming, basic scripting, web interfaces. No specific knowledge on PV theory and practice is required to start the project. Obviously, understanding some of the issues will help implementing additional features in some parts of the tool.
