Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL
Description When deploying photovoltaic (PV) systems, several design issues arise, the most important being the determination of the optimal location to maximize the return on the investment. The main factors that impact the energy production of a PV and by consequence the return on investment of a PV installation are: (i) transient shading and (ii) connections among PV panels (i.e. series/parallel).
The aim of this thesis is to explore how genetic algorithms can be used to find an optimal placement of PV panels.
Required skills Python, Matlab (minimum). No previous knowledge on PV panels theory is required.
