Thesis type SIMULATION AND DESIGN

Description With advancing technology, the trend for large bandwidth and high speed digital processing systems is growing and having a significant impact on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) design. In addition, in an Avionics context, one of the requirements is the reduction of the overall dimensions and weight of an equipment, while increasing its efficiency. In this scenario, one of the main challenge for a PCB designer is the mitigation of the crosstalk. A new approach for facing this problem is based on the "tabbed lines", nets with alternated stub, an approach that preserve the net density, avoiding the increasing of the nets separation
The aim of the thesis is to (1) study the Electromagnetic theory behind the tabbed lines, (2) inspect the design and optimization techniques and (3) evaluate their performance through simulations and measurements.

Required skills Basic knowledge of signal theory, filters, electromagnetic. Competence in Electromagnetic Compatibility and Signal/Power Integrity will be useful. Ability in using circuit and electromagnetic simulators.
