Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL
Description Android Automotive is a version of the OS specifically engineered for automotive infotainment applications. It is estimated that, by 2027, 75% of the vehicles on the market will be using it in some form for their onboard systems. The scope of the thesis is to explore what this platform has to offer, by implementing a custom distribution starting from the open-source codebase.
The candidate will be required to:
1. Starting from the AOSP (Android’s open-source code base), compile a custom version to target a given board (configuration and BSP setup are required)
2. Define best practices and processes to work on changes to the AOSP code base
3. Customize the system UI to create a new Android distribution
4. (And/or) Optimization of other critical parts if the Android Automotive OS (e.g.: audio management, CAN-BUS management, media base application, phone pairing…)
The thesis will be supported by Concept Engineering Reply (https://www.reply.com/concept-reply), the company within the Reply Group specializing in digitizing and making the physical world smart through the development of IoT solutions applied to products, processes, and services.
