Description Two-factor authentication schemes are becoming prevalent in order to guarantee secure access to systems and services. In the framework of the ToothPic start-up (www.toothpic.eu), we have developed a two-factor authentication technology that allows to employ the smartphone as a password generator, in a way that is much more secure than current smartphone authenticators, since it is based on both a hardware and a software secret. The purpose of this thesis is to implement the system on a smartphone; both Android and iOs operating systems are of interest and two theses are correspondingly available. The student would not only implement the system, but also contribute to parts of the design, in order to make the system usable, user-friendly and efficient. In particular, the system generates secret keys by shooting pictures, and the shooting modalities are still an open problem which can heavily determine the overall performance and usability.
