Descrizione The present Master Thesis is inserted in the context of a European Project - AICUReS. This project focuses on the diagnosis of colorectal cancer and its possible relapse and metastasis. colorectal cancer is actually the second causes of death among all cancers, after lung cancer and it is very important to find an early diagnosis to treat the cancer and its possibile recurrence and tendency to metastasis. Colorectal cancer has a heavy impact on health and on huge economic implications in public healthcare.
AI CUReS aims at early diagnosing the occurrence of colorectal cancer metastasis, by looking at tiny shuttle nanoparticles emitted by the tumor itself, called extracellular vesicles (EVs), which can spread the tumore throughout the wole body ofthe patient. A breakthrough technology to label these EVs and look at them is under development in the TNH-Lab at Politecnico di Torino. With this technology, the project aims to advance the conventional diagnossi tool of colorectal cancer and early detect the incurrence of metastasis. For this study, one or better two Master students are required. He/She will work on the study of competitive daignosis technologies already present on the market or under clinical trial, study the patent landscape and design a strategy for technology transfer and market penetration.
Contact with researchers at TNHlab, looking deeply atthe diagnosis technology, and with companies expert in diagnostic and nanomedicine tools will be provided during the Thesis course.
