Descrizione In the development of distributed networked controlled system for 5G, there is a prominent need for supporting autonomous and collaborative systems that can provide high levels of Quality of Service (QoS) using mobile nodes, such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). From this standpoint, the student will design a set of control strategies for fleets of UAVs that will ensure the appropriate management of network resources and will be oriented to the network performance maximization as well as the mission achievement. In detail, the developed strategies and the associated insights will allow fulfilling specifications and constraints coming from both: (i) the communication point of view (i.e. QoS, interference shaping, etc.) and (ii) the control theory point of view (i.e. robust navigation, flight formation, task management, etc.).
The devised control strategy is envisioned to be based on the following strong points:
1. Decentralized/distributed network connectivity estimation coupled with agents' mobility control;
2. Combined Power and Mobility Control with system-status based priority assignments.
Conoscenze richieste Good mathematical background and knowledge in Wireless Networking as well as a strong interest in the other discipline are strictly required.
Furthermore, practical skills with programming languages (C/C++) and software tools (e.g., Matlab, NS-2, NS-3).
