Descrizione This thesis aims to analyze the development of infrastructure Public–Private Partnerships (PPPs) in Africa, Latin America, BRIC, and/or CIVETS over the last three decades and situates their experiences within the wider global context. Through a comparative analysis of PPP data among multiple countries and subregions, the thesis identifies PPP development patterns across developing countries.
Using quantitative methods on secondary data, this thesis aims for analyzing the macroeconomic determinants of PPPs in those regions since the 1990s.
Results will underline the importance of factors such as the country’s experience with PPPs, physical infrastructure, financial sector development, market conditions, institutional quality, and political stability in attracting PPP projects. Identification of the determinants of PPPs will assist private investors in making informed decisions related to the selection of countries for PPP investments, thereby increasing the likelihood of a project’s success. The results are expected to enable public sector practitioners to formulate policies aimed at attracting higher PPP investments, thereby propelling economic development and improvement in the quality of life.

Note It is anticipated that this thesis will yield a journal paper as an outcome. Therefore, it is imperative that the student involved has sufficient availability for weekly progress in accordance with the assigned tasks. Weekly progress meetings will play a pivotal role in maintaining momentum and meeting the desired outcome, which reflects the importance of allocating adequate time to facilitate a robust research process and enhance the likelihood of a successful journal publication.
