Description The master thesis project will be developed at the "Human Motion Biomechanics Lab" of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

The aim of the project is the measurement of the knee kinematics during gait in obese/overweight children in order to evaluate osteoarthritis correlated parameters, which is one of many co-morbidities related to obesity, using inertial sensors.
Inertial sensors will be used and particular attention will be devoted to soft tissue artifacts (STAs). Soft tissue artifact (STA) is considered a leading source of error in motion analysis and is likely worsened in overweight participants due to excessive adiposity. The idea is to develop and implement a novel sensor-based technique to reduce STA in measured knee kinematics.
