Description Selective laser melting (SLM) is one the most demanding additive manufacturing (AM) processes due to superior advantages to produce complex components applicable to wide range of materials. SLM parameters control is essential to grantee the final component quality. The steep thermal variation in the part during SLM induced some defects such as warping, residual thermal stresses and micro-cracks as well as geometrical instability. Prediction of parameters contribution into the process efficiency and product quality in SLM made parts are of paramount importance in earlier steps of design and production that promotes higher productivity. Thermal simulation of SLM parts can be used to assess the contribution of influential parameters that would direct designers to improve process efficiency and reduce the imposed defects. The project is aimed to study the thermal behavioUr of melt pool in SLM and correlate with process parameters and mechanical properties.
