Descrizione The thesis project is based on a previous study [1], which candidates a methodology to evaluate and score energy-producing technologies by means of sustainability indicators that reflect the suitability of satisfying the needs of the human race in the short and long term. Anthropogenic needs can be classified into two types: endosomatic and exosomatic. The former category includes the basic human needs (nourishment), while the latter includes all other energy services that must be covered at a societal level (mobility, chemicals production, lightening, construction, research, medicine, among others).
The aim of the project to conduct an analysis at the national level (Italy) to assess the performance of the electric sector, considering the present mix (i.e. renewable and non-renewable sources). This analysis is of utmost importance due to the increasing trend of electrification of energy services (exosomatic). Hence, a sensitivity analysis will be conducted, considering different future scenarios (substitution or addition of power in different proportions of renewable and non-renewable sources), in order to identify the most sustainable perspectives.
