Description Wearable sensors can be used to acquire a wide range of biological signals, from EEG to heartbeat and skin conductivity, that characterize the physical and mental state of the person wearing the device, including his or her emotional state. In this thesis, data describing users’ emotional state will be collected through several recording mechanisms, including wearable devices, and carefully designed experiments. Machine learning algorithms will then be designed in order to build classifiers that can characterize the user’ emotional state. This information will be used, among others, in the context of HMI and Virtual/Augmented reality to complement ongoing research on users’ cognitive load and systems' usability. Skills possessed or to acquire: programming skills (Python or Matlab), classification/data analysis toolbox; precision, attention to details and analytical skills.
