Description The goal of this project is to develop a machine vision setup to monitor 3D printing process in the context of industrial additive manufacturing. The system should allow to model complex printing processes (including, for instance, the use of multiple polymeric materials, as well as the “welding” of previously fabricated components), detect defects in real-time, and enable print corrections via a closed-feedback loop. Multiple thesis are available to a) create, refine or calibrate acquisition setups (camera, acquisitions) to acquire images of the ongoing 3D prints, that can be adjusted to different production systems, b) compare the results of 3D prints with a prediction based on the design model and detect defects in the extrusion process and c) use the extracted information to improve and correct, also dynamically, production parameters.
