Description In the Antofagasta region in Chile there are numerous copper sulphide mines. The two main problems in Chile are the scarcity of water resources and the need to acquire an ever increasing availability of energy sources. Both of these aspects are fundamental in mining activities. The thesis proposes, by examining the site of Mantas de la Luna in Chile, to reduce as much as possible the consumption of water and energy. It will therefore be possible to proceed with the analysis of the mining abatement process and subsequent correlation with the copper extraction activities ("mining" students) or with the analysis of the water cycle (desalination of sea water, increase in efficiency of the use of water resources, "environment" students) in order to evaluate possible changes to the activities.
