Description In the Antofagasta region in Chile there are numerous copper sulphide mines. The two main problems in Chile are the scarcity of water resources and the need to acquire an ever increasing availability of energy sources. The natural water present (sources, surface water) presents a widespread presence of micro-pollutants including arsenic. In small residential settlements where there are no efficient drinking water treatment plants, water of natural origin is often not used or, if it is used (for example for agricultural or domestic purposes) there may be health risks. The thesis aims to study technological solutions for the removal of micro-pollutants in natural waters with low energy consumption in order to make them usable for different human activities.
