Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL AND MODELING

Description This thesis focus on the identification of a robust and accurate protocol for the assessment of cervical kinematics through a motion capture system. The student is expected to identify the most appropriate positioning for a set of reflective markers, with the ultimate goal of modelling the thoracocervical segment including its 6 degree of freedom. Once the biomechanical model is implemented, it will be used to assess the effect of stimulation of the foot mechanoreceptors on the cervical mobility. Young, healthy volunteers will be recruited and randomly assigned to either a control or intervention group. It is hypothesised that subjects in the intervention group will present increased cervical mobility. This thesis will be conducted in collaboration with the Motor Science School, UNITO.
