Study of the piezoelectric properties of Zinc Oxide nanostrucutres for water splitting reactions and antitumor efficacy

Reference persons VALENTINA ALICE CAUDA, SIMELYS PRIS HERNANDEZ RIBULLEN

Research Groups AA - Materials and Processes for Micro and Nano Technologies, TNHLAB (http://areeweb.polito.it/TNHlab/)

Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL THESIS

Description The candidate will first prepare various zinc oxide nanostrucutres (naoparticle, nanowires, microwires, multipods). He/She will then study the piezoelectric properties by excitign the ZnO strucutres to ultrasonic stimulation and measuring the electrochemical reaction of water splitting, in order to produce molecular gaseous hydrogen and oxygen. the application of this innovative study range from the field of energy storage and conversion to biomedical application in anti-cancer therapy or trelease of oxygen in hypoxic tissues.
