Thesis type DATA ANALYSIS - SIMULATION

Description A typical testing machine used for tensile tests of metallic materials is subjected to unavoidable misalignment and non-axial forces associated with the equipment and instrumentation which might influence the evaluation of their mechanical properties. In this work, it is proposed to study such effects by applying known misalignments and non-axial forces during tensile tests in typical testing machines with capacities in the range between the kilo-newton and the mega-newton. This evaluation is carried out through FEM simulations and actual measurements. A comparison between the two methods is also performed. This activity is part of the European metrological project "Comprehensive traceability for force metrology services" (18SIB08 ComTraForce)
