Description The research activity consists in the use of aerial and satellite images for the evaluation and quantification of the water resource availability in temporary rivers (also indicated in English with the acronym IRES, Intermittent Rivers and Ephemeral Streams). The hydrographic network characterized by hydrological intermittency is currently increasing from a spatial point of view at the global scale, due to both the increase in the water use and the influence of climate change. Currently, easy-to-use tools able to quantify the frequency and duration of zero flow events are not available. Field data collection, hydro-morphological characterization of temporary watercourses and studying the influence of climate change are the main activities foreseen during the master thesis.
