Description It is well known that industrial processes by-products pose a great threat for the environment. Among them, CO2 is considered one of the most harmful because of his role in the formation of the so-called greenhouse effect. Carbon capture is the process of sequestration of CO2 before its release in the atmosphere. Recently, such process was carried out by means of ionic liquids, salts liquid at room temperature able to create strong chemical bonds with carbon dioxide effectively blocking its diffusion.
The thesis work focuses on understanding, by means of computer simulations, the atomistic interplay between specific ionic liquids and CO2 with the aim of enhancing the performances.
