Description Many additive manufacturing processes are under development in the last years to realize new components with complex geometries, saving materials and allowing the production of very different component with the same machine. In particular, the use of metallic materials in additive manufacturing is of great importance because of the wide range of engineering applications.
The aim of the thesis is to investigate numerically the effect of the surface roughness on the thermal-hydraulic performance of a heat exchanger realized by additive manufacturing, taken as a case study. CFD tools will be used. The work will first investigate simple cases and geometries and benchmark the results against literature, before moving to complex geometries.
