Description In collaboration with Column S.r.l. ( www.column.news ), the goal of the thesis is to develop a prototypal named-entity recognition engine aimed at the identification of trending topics in both news and social media that could be used for empowering user recommendations. It will imply recognizing the occurrence of major events by analyzing the media coverage, in order to build content recommendations.

Required skills The thesis requires very good development skills and knowledge of fundamental NLP and ML techniques. Grade point average equal to or higher than 26 can play a relevant role in the selection.
